Happy Birthday
December 10, 2009 | | Leave a Comment
The staff of St. Leo’s came together on the 19th Nov to mark a very special occassion. It was to celebrate the 90th birthday of former Principal Sr. Elizabeth Maher. In her presentation speech present Principal M/s Clare Ryan talked about the vision of Sr Elisabeth. She noted that she taught higher level maths to girls when it was unheard of in other schools. Ms Ryan remarked that she was constantly ahead of her time by about 20 years. The superb school that is St. Leo’s is due in no small way to the work, dedication, outstanding intelligence, innovation and vision that was and is Sr Elizabeth. Sr Elizabeth responded with self deprecating humour and hilarious anecdotes of her time in St. Leo’s. We wish her continued good health and long life.

French Exchange
November 26, 2009 | | Leave a Comment
On the 23rd of October 2009, ten transition year students from St. Leo’s college Carlow and five fifth year students from the CBS went on a French exchange to Dole, France. The exchange lasted for two weeks. It was a great success as the students really enjoyed the new experience. The families were extremely welcoming and the students felt “at home” during their stay.
There were many activities and day trips organised such as a trip to Besancon, bowling, cinema and much more. The students also participated in two days at school and found school life there very different and interesting.
The French students are returning to Ireland in February for two weeks. And the St.Leo’s girls will act as hostesses when they come to visit.
“The days were very long, 8-6 some days and the classes were an hour” – Sarah Doogue.
“I really enjoyed my time in France. It was an unforgettable experience for me.” – Shauna Ray.
“I found it really hard at the beginning, it was so different, but my French family really made me feel welcome.” – Katie Doyle.
“I loved France, I was even lucky enough to be brought to Switzerland!” – Shannon Lok.
