German Exchange.

A German Exchange was organized with a school in Hamminkeln, Germany. This exchange took place in April 2010, a large number of students travelled to Germany; they stayed with German families and attended the local school. This exchange programme is well established and we look forward to the return visit of our German friends. This is an excellent way to learn German whilst making friends for life. Each student was required to keep a diary while we were in Germany. Pen friends were also organized.

All-Ireland Winner in German Competition.

Andrea Burke F1, Sarah Fitzpatrick F3, Catherine Jennings F3 and Aoife Kavanagh F6 competed in the All-Ireland German Primary School Project, which was organized by the Goethe Institute. The team worked long and hard and their effort paid off as they earned a distinction in the competition.

Aoife Kavanagh won the overall individual prize out of all the competitors from all around Ireland. Aoife will be presented with her prize at a function in Trinity College. What an amazing achievement. Well done girls!

Fifth year students in german primary teaching competition

Students in action

Four fifth year German students, Aoife Kavanagh, Catherine Jennings, Andrea Burke and Sarah Fitzpatrick, took part in a primary schools teaching competition on friday the 5th of February. The girls went to Askea GNS to teach German to 6th class pupils. They prepared an excellent class plan and gave a brilliant lesson. Both Leo’s students and 6th class had great fun. All the hard work paid off! Well done girls!!

German Exchange

On 25th April 2010 a number of students will travel with their teacher to Hamminkeln, Germany as part of our German Exchange. The students will reside with German families and attend school daily.As part of the exchange both students and their hosts will travel to Cologne and Phantasialand.
