Subject choice is often regarded as an ordeal but if subject choice not researched carefully by students it may have serious consequences for entry requirements to further education.

St. Leo’s German Debating Team consisting of Lucyana Sinpetru, Poppy Ashmore, Stephanie Holmes and Sara Rennick won the third round of the German Debate against Newbridge College in Newbridge recently. It was a brilliant performance and a well-deserved result!

The Guidance Department are meeting all 3rd year students on an individual basis presently to inform them on the results of the Differential Aptitude Tests (DAT).

St Leo’s Open night was held Wednesday 9th November 2011 from 6.30pm – 8.30pm. Great crowds were in attendance from early evening with guided tours being given around the school by Prefects and Meitheal Leaders. Displays of student’s work along the corridors and in the classrooms received great admiration from all visitors and evidenced the variety of activities on offer in the school.
The Principal addressed the crowds at 8pm and spoke of the range of academic options available to students. She emphasised the high level of academic standards pursued and set in the school and congratulated the class of 2011 on their results, so many of whom had achieved in excess of 500 points. She also spoke about the array of extra-curricular activites that combine to make the school such a vibrant community following which a short variety performance was showcased, displaying the wealth of talent that we are proud to boast of.

On Wednesday evening, 12th October, seventeen students who all scored A’s in their Junior Certificate Honours Business paper travelled to Waterford IT where they attended an invitational open evening. Accompanied by Mr Cullen from the Business Department and Ms Dwyer Principal, the girls joined other successful “A” students from the Southeast to an evening highlighting future careers in Business and Campus facilities available. Following presentations by the Head of Business at IT Waterford and some faculty lecturers each of the girls was presented with a Certificate of Achievement and treated to refreshments. Well done Girls!
